Windows to Linux Conversion

So the first major project for the newly formed technology arm of The Palladian Group is to convert our current servers and operating systems to Linux. What is Linux you ask? To quote Wikipedia...
"Linux (pronunciation: /ˈlɪnʊks/) is a Unix-like computer operating system. Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free software and open source development; its underlying source code can be freely modified, used, and redistributed by anyone."

As more and more companies (and people) become dissatisfied with Microsoft Windows operating systems, and look for more stable and cost effective alternatives, its often Linux that they turn to. Given the available options, it is unarguably the least expensive and is also among the most stable operating systems out there.

Another advantage of moving our Enterprise to Linux is that it gives us greater flexibility and control in creating new services and applications for our clients that wish to avail themselves of the most recent advances in business technology at reasonable price point. In this regard, Linux is truly an enabling technology.
